With a little elbow grease, a new belt and some help from a sagely older brother, the vintage Teac 4-track that had been collecting dust at Valhalla is finally in working condition! And it sounds fantastic…
A few quick A/B tests against the computer proved why a lot of people prefer the sound of analog equipment. Tape offers a lot of intangible qualities that you can’t find in the modern computer world of 1’s and 0’s. Even watching the reels spin seems surprisingly high-tech in a retro sort of way.
Valhalla has begun an album with Asa Irons that will be recorded exclusively on the Teac. Updates on the albums release to come soon.
